neat!
It pretty much just lets me hotsync via a normal generic USB cable like those that come with modern USB printers. It also lets me use a (retractable) ZipLink cable to Hotsync.
A headphone plug goes into the audio jack and goes through the wrist strap and then enters the "box" where it immediately routes to an audio output. The result is that I can use any headphones I choose. Not just the ones that fit inside the GameGrip.
Now, my zodiac can charge many ways! Now, Instead of pluging in the wonky zodiac power supply, I can plug in one of the two chargers. One is for wall power and the other is for 12v Car power.
For the wall one, I think I used an Ericson fold up travel charger. I cut off the end and put a male audio commedctor on it. Voila! A tiny folding charger!
For the car one, i used a nokia charger and took out the insides. I replaced them with this circuit.
found at http://www.aaroncake.net/circuits/cdsupply.htm
I used a 4.8 volt regulator for U1, but a 5 volt would work just fine.
By the way, both the Ericson wall charger and the Nokia Car charger were bought at a dollar store. Just thought that was cool
Status lights on the side of the box indicate if 12v and 5v are on. The five volts is, of course, for charging. The 12v is for the future things I may add on to improve it. Right now, it isn't being used but that may change later.
To Sculpted stylus:
OK, finished this project, now I can start another one! (Yes, the next one is the stylusses) _________________ www.addictedtozodiac.com | ATZ Mobile Homepage

Wowzers this is outta no where. I never heard you talk about this before.
Awesome project but what do you gain by using the generic usb cord? It would be even more cool if you somehow got a battery pack in there
Could you post some more pics? _________________ www.tapwave.com

w00t! you bet!
close-up of the audio connection
Close-Up of the Headphone jack(left) and the power input(right)
You can see the hotsync connector which never moves. it is secured in the same place always with super glue. that little white thing i was only using it to stand the gamegrip up. it isn't really part of it.
The 5volt power is plugged in, so clearly the yellow light is on.
This is just a top view so you can barely see the USB connection and the stylus. _________________ www.addictedtozodiac.com | ATZ Mobile Homepage
