When Tapwave's David Wenning talks, Tapland listens
Page 1 - Introduction, Stealth Marketing, and Sales

On Tuesday night, the New England Palm User Group (NEPUG) held their monthly meeting at the MIT Plasma Fusion Lab in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  David Wenning, the Vice President of Worldwide Sales for Tapwave, was on hand to make a presentation and demonstrate the Zodiac.  Tapwave was kind enough to provide dinner to the approximate thirty attendees.

David started his presentation with an informal survey by asking if anyone was familiar with Tapwave and the Zodiac.  Approximately one third of the audience made a show of hands including three proud Zodiac owners, eliciting an enthusiastic thumbs-up from David. The Tapwave VP brought the group up to speed by giving an overview and some background information. David touched on the history of Tapwave and its leadership, "white space" and the concept behind the Zodiac, the official mission statement and the roadmap that guided the Zodiac to market first through internet sales to the availability at CompUSA and J&R Music brick and mortar stores. During the course of the presentation David provided some very interesting information and announcements.

Stealth Marketing
Tapwave is engaging in stealth marketing using product placements in a number of TV shows including Stargate Atlantis, Stargate SG-1, Las Vegas and others.  David mentioned a rumor going around that Tapwave is attempting to get a Zodiac product placement in Mission Impossible 3.

CompUSA Retail Roadmap
Employees will receive specialized Zodiac training in August.  Additionally, CompUSA employees will be able to purchase Zodiacs at a discounted price in an effort to seed CompUSA stores with employees who are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the Zodiac.  David mentioned that the four foot counter and display for the Zodiac is almost unprecedented in the industry.  The four "Hand, Ear, Eye, and Mind Candy" commericials, seen here first at Tapland, are now showing in the Home Theater section of the stores.

International Sales
David announced that Tapwave will be expanding sales to include international markets starting this fall with English-speaking countries in Europe first and Asia to follow.  It should be noted that Tapwave will be present at three major events throughout Europe next month.
